Senior Mechanical Engineer

Classic Design in Troy, Michigan seeks multiple Senior Mechanical Engineers. Minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering plus 5 years of related work experience required, foreign educational equivalent accepted.

Duties include - Oversee the multiple cross-functional project teams and provide strategic decisions. Develop requirements, criteria, and evaluation methods for the proposed robot-assisted body shop assembly task. Develop the proposed solution with analysis, modeling, and simulation. Directly Responsible for BIW Processing & Tool design of Hood, Liftgate and fender. Responsible for validating the Process Designer, Process Simulation, System Layout, STDS, SDP. Responsible for selecting Robots, Dispense Equipment, Vision Systems, Hemmer. Investigate and identify risks & opportunities across multiple projects. Ensure project leaders accurately understand the scope of projects and actively works with the team for execution and deliverables. Responsible to ensure Quality of all deliverables across all disciplines and approve before presenting them to customer. Investigate and identify the challenges and requirements of the robot-assisted body shop assembly task and propose feasible solutions. Perform day to day progress meeting with customer to review the Open issues, Progress and deliverables. Responsible to plan, execute, review and deliver with quality. Conduct FEA simulations (stress, thermal) to provide early proof of concept for designs. Develop Risk and Mitigation plans; tolerance analysis; DFM, DFA, PFMEA. Should be Flexible & Capable to work at different standards as per Program/Projects requirement. Possess strong interpersonal skills and consistently demonstrate ability to work and lead in a team environment and with cross-functional teams. Participate in entire project Life cycle from project kick off to deliverables and support. Expertise in metal joining process of RSW, GMAW, GTAW, SPR for Steel and Aluminum. Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, welding, fabrication and assembly. Expertise in GMD1, GTC1, GEP1 and GM tool kit. Deep knowledge of GD&T along with Proficiency in NX 12.0 and higher. Working knowledge of Process Simulate, Factory Cad, PDPS. Good knowledge in Cell Process and Tool validation. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
